At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Ultrasound/Vascular Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Ultrasound/Vascular Technician is:
  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
  • Explains and performs the procedure with consideration to the level of understanding and age appropriateness of the patient.
  • Able to assess patient pain by interfering with imaging procedures, makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/ healthcare errors.
  • Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the body part to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of the test.
  • Understands and practices proper use of all equipment.
  • Performs procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Document patient information appropriately.
  • Adjust and maintain equipment An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree is preferred but not required.
  • Two years of Ultrasound/Vascular experience.
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) — Currently registered—minimal certifications — RDMS abdomen (AB) and vascular (RVT)
  • Current BLS certification.
  • High integrity, able to follow procedures.
  • Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take initiative in learning the many complex processes.
  • Always exhibits professionalism and understands appropriate workplace behavior/communications.
  • Confidentiality a must.
