Position Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the direction of the Radiologist, Technical Director, and Lead/Chief Technologist. This position is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and departmental standards. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent combination of education and experience. Clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient imaging setting preferred. Certifications & Licensure Current ARDMS registration required. Must be registered with ARDMS in at least one of the following specialties to meet ACR accreditation requirements: Abdomen (AB) OB/GYN Pediatric Sonography (PS) Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Credentials must be maintained in good standing throughout employment. Current BLS certification. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform routine and specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician orders and ACR protocols. Produce high-quality diagnostic images and ensure accurate documentation. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, anatomy, pathology, terminology, and scanning techniques. Communicate effectively with radiologists regarding exam findings and patient concerns. Complete accurate patient documentation and required paperwork. Provide clear instructions and compassionate care to ensure patient safety and comfort. Follow ACR guidelines and departmental protocols for all ultrasound examinations. Participate in Quality Assurance activities as assigned. Complete or direct completion of occurrence reports within 24 hours of any identified event, incident, or risk. Support efficient workflow and respond positively to changes in assignments and priorities. Participate in cross-training initiatives to enhance departmental flexibility and professional growth. Assist with the clinical education and supervision of ultrasound students, as applicable. Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
