team NYC location in support of Columbia University Irving Medical Center. DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

Responsibilities:
Perform confidential ultrasonography exams as follows: Perinatal sonographer needed to perform ultrasound services supporting Columbia University Irving Medical Center @ various OBGYN clinical sites Localize and recognize difference between health and pathological areas to check for factors such as position, obstructions or changes in shape. Judge whether images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. Integrate diagnostic sonogram with patients' history, medical records and laboratory results, and adapt to examinations Present and prepare preliminary ultrasound findings to attending physician for final report Maintain log of ultrasound test findings. Present preliminary findings to physician for final report. Assist the physician with patient care. Explain the procedure to the patient, record medical history considered necessary and prepare patient for testing. Ensure service excellence by adhering to the "Seven Competencies" and implementing them in all aspects of job performance: 1) Effective Communication 2) Job Knowledge 3) Patient Centered Care 4) Empathy 5) Collaboration and Teamwork 6) Pride and Excellence 7) Integrity and Credibility Required Training - Conforms to all applicable HIPPA, billing compliance guidelines. Collaboratively work with billing/ secretarial staff with regards to authorizations/charges. Provide coverage vacation at other sites as needed. Notice may be provided up to 1 month in advance. Provide sick day coverage at other sites as needed. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Program. Candidate must be RDMS or RDMS registry eligible. RDMS eligible graduates from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education) accredited program must be registered in OB/GYN within 12 months of employment. ARDMS credentials must be maintained yearly.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Must have OB/GYN experience for a minimum of one year , excellent oral/written communication skills, strong customer service background as well as proficiency in computers. Ability operates ultrasound equipment efficiently, evaluate sonogram to acquire diagnostic information, communicate diagnostic information to physicians, follow departmental protocols and guidelines, and communicate effectively with patients and health care team.
