Position Summary:
Performs routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms. Prepares patient for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates and cares for the equipment being used. Develops/processes films when needed. Ads to established radiology "standards of care". Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Ads to hospital wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the
Following:
Understands and ads to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires
Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images
Assist physicians during procedures as necessary
Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies
Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Will be needed to work on call, holidays, overtime and / or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department
Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. s all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor.
Processes films, or pictures if needed
Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/
films, documents information on patients' request, Meditech or hospital riss system and PAC's digital x-ray system
Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors
Shows radiologist all films and calls reports to the attending physician and documentsmunication if necessary
May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor
Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding the examination that is ordered.
Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults and geriatric groups
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital
Education& Experience Requirements:
High school Diploma/GED required.
Satisfactorypletion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate. (ARDMS eligibility after 1 year from graduation and 1000 clinical hours).
Experience preferred
Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
ARDMS required for ACR accreditationpliance after January 1, 2019
BLS certification through the AHA-American Heart Association is required or must bepleted within 90 days of hire.

Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements& Work Environment:
Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork.
Constantly operates aputer and other office productivity machinery
The person in this position frequentlymunicates with patients who have questions about their bills/financial obligations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in the department.
Frequently move and position patients for exams
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardouschemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, d on a disc.
