General Description Under the direction of the Site Manager, this employee performs a variety of medical duties of a routine and recurring nature, including but not limited to patient relations, patient care (including patient safety evaluation), and imaging-specific duties. Imaging responsibilities include quality control and assurance activities as well as performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations. Individuals assigned to this position will normally perform duties independently and in accordance with established company procedures and practices. Job requirements include compliance with applicable credentialing regulations and educational or work experience in diagnostic medical sonography. Duties and Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities include the following; however, additional duties may be assigned as needed. Safety Responsibilities Be familiar with and adhere to all Company policies and procedures pertaining to OSHA requirements. Complete incident reports in a timely manner when accidents or adverse events occur. Patient Care Be familiar with and adhere to all Company policies pertaining to HIPAA and deliver services in a manner that ensures patient privacy. Be familiar with and adhere to all imaging center policies and procedures governing patient care and general practices. Educate patients and their families regarding procedures being performed. Assist patients as necessary using proper transfer and lifting techniques and body mechanics. Provide care within the accepted scope of practice for a diagnostic medical sonographer. Deliver services appropriate to the patient's age, condition, and individual needs. Technical Quality and Productivity Produce diagnostic ultrasound images of consistently high quality in accordance with established protocols and physician requirements. Perform required quality assurance testing on imaging equipment and submit documentation as required. Properly identify patient information and ensure accurate exam documentation. Maintain productivity expectations appropriate to training, experience, and scheduled work hours. Adjust imaging parameters as needed to obtain optimal diagnostic images across a diverse patient population. Professional Development Maintain active ARDMS certification and remain in good standing with applicable professional organizations. Provide updated certification documentation to the Site Manager and Human Resources within thirty (30) days of renewal or sooner upon request. Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Participate in continuing education activities necessary to maintain professional credentials. Customer Service Adhere to all ProScan customer service standards. Promote patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout the imaging experience. Promptly report patient or customer concerns to the Site Manager. Encourage patient participation in satisfaction surveys and support quality improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Current ARDMS registry as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or equivalent required credential. Additional specialty certifications preferred based on departmental needs. Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Strong interpersonal and patient communication skills. Physical Demands Lift equipment and supplies weighing up to thirty (30) pounds. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff. Assist with patient transfers using proper body mechanics. Stand, walk, bend, and position patients for extended periods throughout the workday.
