Discover why our hospital is a great place to work—take a virtual tour of our facility here: Reading Hospital Virtual Tour The sonographer performs Ultrasound procedures according to established protocol to obtain diagnostic information as ordered by a licensed physician or their designated health care provider. The Sonographer provides information to the patient about the purpose of the ultrasound procedure and responds to the patient's questions and concerns. The Sonographer recognizes the patient's individuality and provides quality care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner using professional and ethical judgment. The diagnostic medical sonographer maintains continued competence through lifelong learning, which includes continuing education, acquisition of specialty specific credentials, and recredentialing. The diagnostic sonographer working in the department of Radiology is required to perform diverse imaging across the spectrum of sonography. #READ Education Requirements Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role. Post High School Diploma Program Experience Relevant Experience Certification and Licensure BLS Certification American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (OB or AB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RVT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(VS) is obtained within 18 months of hire Required Skills Collaborative Skills Detail Oriented Excellent Communications Skills Excellent Interpersonal Skills Listening Skills Medical Terminology Microsoft Office Applications Multitasking Strong Team Player
