PVL Technologist, UPMC

UPMC offers a $6,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment. Perform noninvasive Peripheral Vascular studies including (but not restricted to) arterial and venous duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, noninvasive arterial testing (pulse volume recordings/segmental limb pressures), visceral abdominal duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, extracranial duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, and other noninvasive vascular tests assigned. This goal must be achieved within 6 months to 1 year of starting date. Patient testing is performed on adolescent, geriatric and adult patients. This position is scheduled to work from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with weekend, call and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities:

Display knowledge of Doppler and Ultrasound physics when performing vascular exams. Provide general information to patients and their significant others while performing vascular testing. Enter data in computer and maintains data integrity. Participates in the training of new technologists and students. Participates in continuing education within the department. Provide support to staff to assure competency in all phases of vascular diagnostic services. Obtain detailed, accurate history on vascular patients. Display ability to troubleshoot problems with equipment and computer terminals and make minor repairs. Assist other staff members and hospital personnel in completion of needed tasks. Make patient care and/or interdepartmental service the number one priority. Maintain safety of vascular patients while in the department. Obtain and calculate tracing, spectral analyses and analog waveforms for vascular tests.
