  • A Brief Overview
  • Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic medical sonograms at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomy measurements and abnormal or suspicious anatomy; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.
  • What you will do
  • + Review outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.
+ Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication. + Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure. + Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist's interpretation. + Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms to include but not limited to Abdomen
  • Aorta, right upper quadrant, renal, renal doppler, OB GYN
  • first, second, and third trimester fetal examinations, pelvis
  • trans abdominal and transvaginal. Small parts
  • thyroid, extremity, scrotum, and breast. Pediatrics
  • pylorus, spine, hips. Procedures
  • Biopsies of thyroid, liver, lymph nodes, renal, aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
+ Perform standard diagnostic sonogram procedures as required by physician's order. + Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology. + Completion of exam in hospital information system. + Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment. + May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.
  • Education Qualifications
  • + Certificate under the completion of a Medical Sonography program Required or + Associate's Degree under the completion of a Medical Sonography program Required
  • Experience Qualifications
  • + At least one (1) year Sonography experience Preferred
  • Skills and Abilities
  • + Understand and utilize anatomy, positioning, physics + Critical thinking + Time management + Effective communication
  • Licenses and Certifications
  • + Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Non-registered sonographers must successfully complete the ARDMS registry within 24 months of hire date) Required + Basic Life Support Certified
  • American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
  • Physical Demand
