At Dr. Andres Garcia Zuñiga Primary Care, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate healthcare to our community. We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ultrasound Technician to expand the diagnostic capabilities we offer our patients. If you are proficient in general and vascular ultrasound and are looking for a stable, outpatient environment where you can build relationships with both patients and providers, we want to hear from you. Position Overview The Ultrasound Technician will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to perform examinations for physicians. In this role, you will work directly with Dr. Garcia Zuñiga to obtain high-quality images used to diagnose a variety of medical conditions. The ideal candidate is autonomous, technically proficient, and possesses a warm bedside manner to put patients at ease during procedures.
Key Responsibilities Patient Care:
Explain procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and alleviate anxiety. Position patients appropriately to capture the correct images, ensuring comfort and modesty.
Imaging & Procedures:
Perform a variety of technical procedures including, but not limited to, abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, small parts (thyroid/testicular), and vascular ultrasound examinations as ordered by the physician.
Equipment Operation:
Adjust and operate ultrasound equipment to obtain the highest quality images possible. Perform routine quality control and maintenance checks on equipment; report any malfunctions to management.
Image Analysis:
Differentiate between normal and pathological structures. Recognize and document any significant findings or anomalies and report them to the physician.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate patient records, procedure documentation, and image archival in accordance with practice policies and HIPAA regulations.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all operations adhere to safety standards, infection control protocols, and ALARA principles to minimize patient exposure.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Certification:
Active registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) is preferred.
Licensure:
Must hold current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Experience:
[Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred / New graduates with clinical rotations will be considered].
Skills:
Proficiency in abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts ultrasound. Experience with vascular studies is a plus. Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred to effectively communicate with our patient population in Laredo. Why Join Us?
