Assist with specialized procedures such as breast sonography, ultrasound-guided biopsies, vascular studies, and echocardiograms to help diagnose tumors, monitor blood flow, and evaluate heart function. Provide real-time imaging guidance for interventional procedures, collaborating closely with physicians during biopsies, aspirations, and targeted injections to ensure accuracy and patient safety. Position Overview The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer independently performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures in an ambulatory setting, producing high-quality images and preliminary structural reports under the supervision of a qualified physician. This role ensures patient comfort, accurate documentation, and strict compliance with infection control and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Conduct general ultrasound imaging studies, accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology for physician interpretation. Operate and maintain sonography equipment, electronic radiology systems, and ensure exam rooms are properly prepared with needed supplies and medications. Explain procedures to patients, provide comfort and education throughout the exam, and complete all required departmental documentation. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and ensure infection control equipment is properly used and logged. Provide preliminary structural reports and exercise independent judgment while adhering to established protocols and physician direction.
