Job Description

Registered Sonographer Use Your Skills Where They Matter—In a Practice That's Hitting Its Stride At Vermont Diagnostic Imaging (VDI), we're six months in and building real momentum. Our workflows are established, our patient volume is strong and steadily growing, and we're continuously refining how we deliver high-quality, patient-first imaging care. As a locally owned, physician-led imaging center, we operate without corporate red tape—so our focus stays where it belongs: on patients, precision, and teamwork. We're looking for a per diem Registered Sonographer to serve as a reliable backup and collaborative partner to our full-time sonographer. This role is ideal for someone who values being part of a team, can step in seamlessly when needed, and takes pride in delivering consistent, high-quality work. Our ultrasound services are in demand, and the workload is consistent, so your skills will be put to meaningful use in a setting where efficiency, accuracy, and teamwork truly matter. It's also possible that this position may evolve into a part-time or full-time position over time. At VDI, we believe in true work-life harmony—predictable daytime hours with no nights, weekends, call, or holidays—so you can recharge and bring your best to both work and life outside of it. You'll be joining a close-knit team where your reliability, professionalism, and contributions are genuinely valued.
What You'll Do:
Perform a wide range of general ultrasound exams with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Step-in as needed to support patient volume and ensure continuity of care Work collaboratively with the full-time sonographer to maintain a smooth, consistent workflow Create a calm, respectful, and supportive experience for every patient Apply strong clinical judgment to ensure image quality and determine when additional views are needed Communicate clearly with Radiologists and referring providers to support high-quality care Ensure all documentation, patient data, and exam records are complete and accurate Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and all regulatory standards Keep ultrasound rooms clean, organized, and consistently ready for use Contribute to ongoing improvements in workflow, efficiency, and patient experience
What You Bring:
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification required Experience in general, breast and vascular ultrasound Strong attention to detail and commitment to doing things right the first time A dependable, self-motivated work style with a strong sense of ownership A patient-centered approach with a professional, reassuring bedside manner Confidence to work independently, with good judgment about when to consult A collaborative mindset—you work well alongside others and help create a reliable team environment Why You'll Love Working Here Per Diem | Weekday daytime coverage as needed | Expect 5-10 hours/week Potential to evolve to part-time or full-time position as test demand increases No nights, no weekends, no call, no holidays
Pay:
$46-$50/hour Supportive, physician-led, locally operated environment Collaborative, respectful culture where reliability and teamwork matter This is a role for someone who takes pride in their work. If you're the kind of sonographer who values accuracy, consistency, and being a reliable part of a team—and you want to contribute in a meaningful way without a full-time schedule—we'd love to hear from you.
