Job Description

Lee's Veterinary Hospital is looking to add veterinarians to our team in Cullman, Alabama. We are open to conversations with veterinarians at different stages of their career, but we are especially interested in experienced veterinarians who can step into a meaningful role in a busy, established private practice. Job Overview Lee's Veterinary Hospital was opened in the fall of 1987 by Dr. Bruce D. Lee, DVM, a 1986 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Nearly four decades later, the hospital remains privately owned and operated by Dr. Lee and continues to serve the Cullman community with the same practical, relationship-driven approach that it was built on. From the beginning, Lee's Veterinary Hospital has been more than a small animal clinic. Our practice has served a wide range of patients, including dogs, cats, companion animals, exotics, horses, cattle, and even larger exotic animals. That variety has shaped the culture of the hospital. We are a practical, hardworking, community-centered clinic that values good medicine, common sense, client relationships, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the animals and people we serve. This role is an opportunity to join a long-standing private practice with deep roots in the community and real momentum for the future. After decades of steady service to the Cullman area, Dr. Lee has made the commitment to significantly expand and modernize the hospital facility. The practice is growing into a nearly 8,000-square-foot veterinary hospital designed to better support the doctors, staff, clients, and patients who depend on us. The expanded facility is being planned around the future of the practice — not just more square footage, but a better hospital experience. The goal is to create improved exam room flow, more efficient treatment and procedure space, updated surgery and medical areas, better client waiting and reception space, improved team work areas, and a layout that allows the hospital to operate with more organization, comfort, and professionalism. For a veterinarian considering Lee's Veterinary Hospital, this expansion matters. It shows that the practice is not standing still. We are investing in the facility, the team, the systems, and the long-term future of private veterinary medicine in our community. This is a chance to join a hospital with a long history, but also one that is actively building its next chapter. For an experienced veterinarian, this position offers the chance to step into a meaningful role where your clinical judgment, communication skills, and real-world experience will be valued. We are especially interested in doctors who can manage appointments confidently, communicate clearly with clients, work well with support staff, and contribute to the overall direction and quality of the practice. For a newer or early-career veterinarian, we are also open to a conversation if the fit is right. We value humility, work ethic, good judgment, professionalism, and a genuine desire to learn and grow inside a busy private practice environment. A typical day may include seeing appointments, working through diagnostics, building treatment plans, communicating with pet owners, collaborating with technicians and assistants, and helping create a calm, organized, client-focused hospital experience. Depending on experience and interest, the role may also include surgery, mixed animal work, urgent care cases, or opportunities to develop a stronger long-term role within the practice. At Lee's Veterinary Hospital, we care about more than simply filling a schedule. We are looking for veterinarians who want to practice good medicine, build trust with clients, support the team around them, and help move the hospital forward. About the Role This is a general practice veterinary position in a busy, established hospital. Depending on the doctor's experience and interests, the role may include appointments, diagnostics, treatment plans, outpatient care, surgery, client communication, medical records, and collaboration with our existing doctors and support staff. For an experienced veterinarian, this could be more than a standard associate position. We are looking for someone who can bring confidence, maturity, and leadership to the practice. The right doctor may have the opportunity to step into a meaningful long-term role as the hospital continues to grow. For a newer or early-career veterinarian, we are also open to a conversation if the fit is right. We value common sense, professionalism, humility, communication, and a willingness to learn. We consider this a differenciating factor and also a standard Dr. Bruce Lee has established at the clinic. Good clinical judgment Professionalism and dependability Ability to work well with technicians, assistants, receptionists, and other doctors Interest in practicing high-quality, practical veterinary medicine Desire to be part of a privately owned practice with long-term growth potential Experienced candidates are especially encouraged to apply if they have: Prior general practice experience Confidence managing appointments and cases independently Strong client education and estimate communication skills Routine surgery experience Interest in leadership, mentorship, or helping improve practice systems Desire for a long-term role rather than just another job Responsibilities Responsibilities may include: Examining and treating patients Managing appointments and medical cases Creating treatment plans and communicating recommendations to clients Interpreting diagnostics and lab work Performing routine surgeries, depending on experience and comfort level Maintaining complete and accurate medical records Working collaboratively with doctors and support staff Helping maintain a professional, organized, client-focused hospital environment Contributing ideas that help the practice continue to improve Compensation Compensation will depend on experience, schedule, production ability, and role fit.
