In this vital role, you will provide exceptional support to veterinarians and ensure the highest standards of animal care. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Handle and restrain animals safely using proper animal handling and restraint techniques, including dog training and pet grooming when necessary. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, medication administration, and laboratory results in accordance with veterinary terminology standards. Support pet owners with pet care advice, including feeding, grooming, and basic health tips related to animal physiology. Conduct dental cleaning utilizing knowledge of dental terminology and assist with animal dentistry tasks like cleaning and polishing. Operate imaging equipment such as X-ray machines to assist in diagnostics involving animal anatomy knowledge on small animal cases. Assist with animal catheterization, sample collection, and other critical care procedures for animals requiring veterinary critical care experience. Requirements Proven kennel experience Prior veterinary technician experience with familiarity in veterinary terminology and animal physiology is an asset. Experience handling dogs and other animals safely using proper restraint techniques; dog and cat handling skills are essential. Knowledge of veterinary critical care procedures, laboratory testing, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and educate pet owners on animal care practices.
