Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Veterinarian and Relief Veterinarian to join our busy veterinary hospital and urgent care center. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality veterinary care across a variety of cases, supporting our team during scheduled absences or peak times. The ideal candidate will possess strong veterinary critical care skills, animal handling expertise, and a passion for animal welfare. This role is essential in ensuring seamless patient care and maintaining our hospital's reputation for excellence in veterinary medicine. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive veterinary examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for a diverse caseload of small animals and emergency cases. Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Administer medications, perform procedures such as animal catheterization, and assist with laboratory diagnostics. Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical and medical procedures to prevent infection. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and aftercare instructions. Assist in pet grooming, animal husbandry, and other supportive care as needed. Maintain detailed medical records in accordance with hospital protocols. Support team members with emergency interventions and critical care procedures, including those involving animal physiology and anatomy knowledge. Requirements Veterinary degree from an accredited institution and valid licensure to practice veterinary medicine. Proven veterinary experience, particularly in critical care settings; equine experience is a plus. Strong animal handling skills across various species, including dogs and cats. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques. Experience with pet grooming, laboratory procedures, and laboratory equipment is preferred. Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations and procedures. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and educate pet owners. Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed; commitment to providing compassionate animal care in a fast-paced environment.
