Partnered with Curo Pet Care, our hospital has recently expanded to include additional office space, a larger treatment area, more exam rooms, dedicated isolation areas, and boarding facilities—allowing us to continue delivering high-quality care across a diverse range of species. Our practice sees dogs, cats, pocket pets, small mammals, numerous exotics, and maintains a large and thriving avian caseload. From parrots and companion birds to flock poultry, waterfowl, songbirds, aviary birds, and occasionally ratites, our avian service is a cornerstone of the hospital. EPAH is led by Dr. Dave Rupiper, whose career reflects a deep commitment to both general and avian medicine. Leadership & Expertise Dr. Dave Rupiper completed his undergraduate studies at Cal State-Fresno and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis in 1991. With 35 years of experience, he brings extensive expertise in small animal and avian medicine. After spending 10 years as an associate DVM in Southern California gaining experience in small animal and avian medicine, Dr. Rupiper became ABVP board certified in avian medicine before acquiring East Petaluma Animal Hospital. He maintains a strong interest in avian medicine and remains active in the Association of Avian Veterinarians. Dr. Rupiper co-authored two editions of the Exotic Animal Formulary and has published numerous peer-reviewed avian articles, along with many lay-journal publications focused on pigeons.
