Lois Pope Pet Clinic at Tri-County Animal Rescue Boca Raton, Florida About Us The Lois Pope Pet Clinic is a full-service veterinary hospital located within Tri-County Animal Rescue, a nationally recognized 100% No-Kill animal welfare organization that has saved more than 101,000 lives since 1996. Our mission is to provide high-quality, affordable veterinary care while ensuring that financial circumstances never become a barrier to keeping pets healthy and in loving homes. The clinic serves thousands of clients annually and offers preventative care, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, emergency procedures, and compassionate treatment for both owned pets and shelter animals. Position Summary The Veterinarian is responsible for providing exceptional medical and surgical care to companion animals while supporting the mission of Tri-County Animal Rescue and the Lois Pope Pet Clinic. This position combines high-quality veterinary medicine with community service, helping pets receive the care they need regardless of their owners' financial circumstances. The ideal candidate is compassionate, team-oriented, adaptable, and committed to advancing animal welfare through accessible veterinary care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Medical Care Perform comprehensive physical examinations and wellness evaluations. Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions. Develop treatment plans and educate clients on recommended care. Interpret laboratory results, radiographs, ultrasounds, and other diagnostic tests. Prescribe medications and monitor treatment outcomes. Maintain accurate and complete medical records. Surgery and Dentistry Perform routine soft tissue surgeries including spays, neuters, mass removals, hernia repairs, and wound management. Perform dental examinations, cleanings, extractions, and oral surgery as needed. Assist with emergency surgical procedures when necessary. Shelter Medicine Provide medical care for rescue animals housed at Tri-County Animal Rescue. Participate in intake evaluations and treatment planning for rescued animals. Collaborate with shelter staff to ensure animals are healthy and adoption-ready. Support disease prevention and population health initiatives. Client Service Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners. Educate clients regarding preventive medicine, treatment options, and follow-up care. Promote responsible pet ownership, vaccination compliance, parasite prevention, and spay/neuter programs. Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Team Collaboration Work closely with veterinary technicians, assistants, reception staff, and shelter personnel. Mentor and support veterinary support staff. Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education opportunities. Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture. Qualifications Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school. Active Florida veterinary license in good standing. DEA license (or ability to obtain). USDA accreditation preferred but not required. Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to animal welfare and community veterinary medicine. Preferred Qualifications Experience in shelter medicine, high-volume spay/neuter, or nonprofit veterinary practice. Experience performing soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Fear Free Certification is desirable. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and restrain animals of varying sizes. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform surgical procedures. Ability to work in a veterinary hospital environment with exposure to animals, cleaning agents, and medical equipment. Why Join Our Team?
