Iowa Veterinary Specialty Hospital (IVS) is a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, and progressive referral practice in Des Moines, Iowa. Owned by Iowa State University and operational for over 40 years, we provide 24-hour Emergency and Specialty veterinary care. Our dedicated team includes emergency veterinarians, boarded specialty surgeons, exotics professionals, and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants. We are seeking Relief ER Veterinarians to join our fast-paced, progressive referral practice. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established, supportive, and forward-thinking practice.

Position Overview :

As an ER Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing emergency care for incoming patients and hospitalized patients including endoscopy and ER surgeries. You will have the chance to work with a variety of cases, including trauma, critical care, and specialty consultations. Relief hours (day, swing & nights avilable) with flexible scheduling an 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide high-quality emergency care including trauma and critical care Work with Iowa State University Veterinary Student in a variety of programs Collaborate with our staff of veterinary technicians, board certified veterinarians, surgeons and specialists to ensure the best patient care. Use advanced diagnostic tools including a full-service in-house IDEXX lab, digital x-ray, and on-site 64-slice CT. Maintain accurate medical records and effectively communicate with clients about their pets' care.

Qualifications :

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree. Previous emergency or critical care experience of 2 years preferred, but all experience levels will be considered. Surgery and scope experience a plus A positive attitude, compassion, and a dedication to high-quality medicine.
