Job Overview Brookview Animal Health Center in Mason City, Iowa is seeking a third passionate and dedicated Veterinarian to join our animal healthcare team. We are a busy, well-established practice with the opportunity to work with exotics for those interested. Immediate start time available with a 40 hour, 4.5 day work week. After hours care is rotated between doctors with additional compensation provided for that time. Our hospital practices medicine, dentistry and surgery on a high level with in-house lab equipment, digital x-ray, endoscope, surgery laser, and therapy laser. We offer a compassionate, team-oriented approach to patient care with a strong support team. Starting salary of $100,000+, based on experience. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive medical care, diagnosis, and treatment for a diverse range of animals, ensuring their health and well-being. Your expertise will help foster a compassionate environment where pet owners feel confident and supported in caring for their beloved animals. Duties Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose health issues in animals across various species, including dogs, cats, and some exotics. Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication administration, surgical procedures, and emergency interventions. Perform animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Utilize veterinary terminology accurately to communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and care instructions to pet owners. Maintain detailed medical records, documenting findings, treatments, and follow-up care with precision. Apply aseptic techniques during surgeries and invasive procedures to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. Requirements Valid veterinary license or certification to practice in the relevant jurisdiction. Experience in veterinary critical care is highly desirable for managing urgent cases effectively. Skilled in animal restraint techniques across different species to facilitate safe examinations and treatments. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and laboratory procedures. Ability to handle dogs confidently during handling sessions or behavioral assessments. Strong communication skills to educate pet owners about health management and treatment plans.
