Depends on Experience Benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision insurance through our company group plan Paid and Sick time off accrual All necessary licensing and renewals paid for by WVHS Clinic General Liability insurance covered under WVHS's policy Purpose of Position WVHS is seeking a full-time Veterinarian passionate about shelter medicine and community impact. In this role, you will provide comprehensive medical care to shelter animals, including preventative care, diagnostics, and high-volume spay/neuter surgery. This is an opportunity to practice both individual patient care and population-level medicine while making a meaningful difference every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide routine, preventative, and urgent medical care Perform high-volume spay/neuter and soft tissue surgeries Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions Develop and oversee treatment plans and medical records Supervise and support veterinary technicians and staff Maintain compliance with medical standards and regulations Manage pharmaceutical inventory and logs Collaborate with local veterinarians, rescue partners, and community stakeholders Assist in developing and improving medical protocols
Qualifications/Education Requirements:
DVM (or equivalent) from an accredited institution Licensed (or eligible) to practice in Idaho DEA license (or ability to obtain) 1+ year of veterinary experience preferred Experience in high-volume spay/neuter preferred (or willingness to learn) Interest in shelter medicine and population health
Other Requirements:
The ability to exert moderate but not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting, carrying objects and animals of moderate weight. The ability to stand to perform surgery for 2-4 hours at a time. Knowledge of standards of care in animal shelters as per the Association of Shelter Veterinarians and the U.C. Davis Shelter Medicine Program, or the willingness to obtain that knowledge. Knowledge and skill in high volume and pediatric spaying/neutering procedures, or the willingness to obtain that knowledge/skills. Knowledge of county, state, city, and federal animal health laws and regulations.
Availability:
Availability and a willingness to work a flexible schedule are required.

This is an exempt, full-time position.
