Associate Veterinarian

Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Associate Veterinarian to join our growing mixed-focus veterinary practice. Our clinic is predominantly small animal, providing high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care for dogs and cats, while also supporting an established whitetail deer breeding and herd health management program. This position offers a unique opportunity for a veterinarian interested in combining companion animal medicine with production medicine, reproductive management, and cervid health. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, adaptable, and eager to work in a collaborative environment that values excellent client communication, progressive medicine, and animal welfare. Experience with cervids or large animal herd management is welcomed but not required; mentorship and training are available for the right candidate. Duties Provide comprehensive medical care for companion animals, including wellness exams, diagnostics, surgery, dentistry, and emergency care Develop and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and education Participate in herd health management for whitetail deer operations, including: Preventive medicine and disease surveillance. (The cervid work is optional, not required) Reproductive and breeding management Nutritional and population health oversight Regulatory compliance and health documentation Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient daily operations Maintain accurate and timely medical records Participate in on-call or after-hours responsibilities as needed Skills Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care best practices. Expertise in veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and laboratory procedures. Skilled in dog handling, equine care, and general animal husbandry to promote health and comfort. Proficient in aseptic techniques, laboratory testing procedures, and laboratory experience relevant to veterinary diagnostics. Ability to perform animal catheterization accurately while maintaining high standards of asepsis. Excellent communication skills to educate pet owners about treatment plans and preventive care strategies. Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in critical care scenarios with veterinary critical care experience preferred.
