Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Veterinarian specializing in small animal care to join our dynamic veterinary team. Duties Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose health issues in small animals, including dogs, cats, and other companion animals. Perform medical procedures such as vaccinations, wound management, and minor surgeries with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques. Assist in emergency and critical care situations, utilizing veterinary critical care experience to stabilize and treat urgent cases. Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations and procedures, ensuring minimal stress for the animals. Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary terminology and documentation standards. Educate pet owners on animal husbandry, nutrition, grooming, and preventive healthcare practices. Collect laboratory samples for diagnostic testing, demonstrating laboratory experience and understanding of animal physiology. Administer treatments involving animal catheterization, medication, and other supportive therapies while practicing proper aseptic techniques. Manage animal handling tasks including pet grooming, pet care advice, and ensuring proper animal husbandry practices are followed within the clinic. Support the team with knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to inform accurate diagnosis and treatment plans. Requirements Veterinary degree from an accredited institution with valid license to practice veterinary medicine. Proven veterinary experience with a focus on small animal medicine; additional equine experience is a plus but not required. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology relevant to small animals. Experience in veterinary critical care and emergency procedures is highly desirable. Proficiency in animal restraint techniques, pet grooming, and basic pet care practices. Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to diagnostic testing in veterinary medicine. Ability to handle dogs confidently, including dog handling skills for various temperaments. Knowledge of aseptic techniques for surgical procedures and wound management. Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration. $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
