Job Description

Overview We are a locally owned, non-corporate mixed-animal practice in St. James, Minnesota, committed to providing personalized veterinary care while maintaining a supportive, team-oriented culture. Our clinic values collaboration, work-life balance, client relationships, and compassionate care for both large and small animals. We are proud of the experienced and positive crew we have built, and we are looking for a veterinarian who wants to be part of a practice where their voice matters and teamwork truly makes a difference.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a General Practice Veterinarian to join our mixed animal practice. The ideal candidate is compassionate, motivated, and communicative, and enjoys working with both companion and large-animal patients. This position includes a rotating on-call schedule and shared Saturday responsibilities to help support a healthy balance for all doctors on the team. Whether you are an experienced veterinarian or a new graduate looking for mentorship, we would love to connect with you. Responsibilities Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose health conditions in both small and large animals, including dogs, cats, equines, and farm animals. Perform medical procedures such as animal restraint, catheterization, wound management, and administering vaccinations. Utilize veterinary terminology accurately to communicate findings effectively with clients and team members. Apply veterinary critical care techniques when managing emergency cases or critically ill patients. Handle animal husbandry tasks, including grooming, feeding, and maintaining proper animal physiology and anatomy standards. Maintain aseptic techniques during surgeries and procedures to prevent infections. Assist in laboratory diagnostics by collecting samples, performing tests, and interpreting results to inform treatment plans. Demonstrate proficiency in animal handling across various species, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Provide pet care advice related to pet grooming, nutrition, behavior, and general health maintenance. Support clients with education on animal physiology, anatomy, and overall wellness strategies. Experience Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and general animal care practices. Experience working with mixed animals, including small pets and large animals such as horses or livestock, is highly desirable. Prior exposure to veterinary critical care scenarios enhances your ability to respond swiftly during emergencies. Familiarity with animal restraint techniques for safe examinations or procedures. Laboratory experience involving sample collection and diagnostic testing is advantageous. Hands-on experience with equine care or pet grooming adds value to your skill set. Demonstrated ability to handle dogs effectively during various procedures or assessments is preferred. Join us if you're eager to apply your veterinary expertise in a lively environment that values compassion, precision, and continuous learning! We are dedicated to supporting your professional journey while delivering outstanding animal healthcare every day.
