Responsibilities Conduct thorough physical examinations and diagnose health issues in a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and equines. Perform surgical procedures, administer vaccinations, and develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Utilize veterinary terminology accurately to communicate findings and treatment options clearly to pet owners and team members. Handle animals safely using restraint techniques appropriate for different species and temperaments, ensuring both animal welfare and staff safety. Apply aseptic techniques during surgeries and invasive procedures to prevent infections. Manage laboratory tests, interpret results, and utilize laboratory experience to support diagnoses. Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining clean living environments for hospitalized animals. Use animal physiology and anatomy knowledge to inform treatment strategies and educate pet owners on proper care practices. Perform specialized procedures such as animal catheterization, pet grooming, or animal restraint as needed. Maintain detailed medical records while adhering to veterinary critical care protocols for emergency cases. Provide guidance on pet care, including behavioral advice and post-treatment instructions, ensuring pets recover comfortably. Requirements Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in general animal care, critical care, and emergency procedures. Demonstrated expertise in animal handling across various species with a focus on dogs; equine experience is a plus. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Hands-on experience with laboratory testing processes relevant to veterinary medicine. Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively during examinations or procedures. Excellent communication skills to explain complex medical information clearly to pet owners. Strong commitment to animal welfare with an understanding of pet grooming, animal husbandry, and pet care best practices. Certification or licensing as required by local veterinary regulatory authorities; ongoing professional development preferred.
