This position is ideal for a DVM/VMD with a passion for exotic species, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to client education and collaborative medicine. Avian & Exotic Philly Vet (AEPV) is a well-established, privately owned small practice in Philadelphia, PA. We are exclusively dedicated to avian and exotic animals and pride ourselves on providing progressive, high-quality care in a collaborative and supportive environment. We offer gold standard diagnostics (Ultrasound with a boarded radiologist, Radiographs, Endoscopy, and soon CT) in a private practice setting. Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and diagnostic care for exotic pets Work 4-5 shifts per week, with every other weekend off Participate in rounds, follow up on patient care, and communicate with clients Collaborate with an experienced team of veterinarians and support staff No formal on-call responsibilities Competitive salary and production (without negative accrual) with a healthy benefits package and option for retirement planning Education & Licensing Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution Valid and active Pennsylvania veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain) DEA registration is required for handling controlled substances Clinical Skills & Experience Proficiency in clinical exams, diagnostics, and treatment planning for birds, reptiles, small mammals, and other exotics Surgical competency within your comfort level for exotic species Ability to educate clients on husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care Schedule & Availability Full-time Every other weekend off No formal on-call requirements Professional Conduct & Communication Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment Willingness to participate in rounds, case discussions, and training
