This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys: urgent care medicine surgery fast-paced workflow technician collaboration practical spectrum-of-care medicine We are not a corporate ER. Our practice focuses on accessible, high-quality urgent care for clients who need realistic options and competent medicine delivered efficiently and compassionately. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and triage urgent care and emergency cases Perform urgent soft tissue surgeries Manage hospitalized urgent care patients Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients Work collaboratively with experienced technicians Maintain accurate medical records and invoicing Prioritize efficiently in a high-volume environment Deliver practical spectrum-of-care medicine Support workflow and team culture What Success Looks Like Successful veterinarians in this role: handle urgent cases calmly and efficiently perform surgery confidently communicate well under pressure work collaboratively with technicians contribute positively to team culture stay organized and accountable believe accessible care and good medicine can coexist RequirementsRequired DVM or equivalent veterinary degree Texas veterinary license (or ability to obtain) Urgent care, ER, or strong GP experience Confidence with urgent soft tissue surgery Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Preferred Shelter medicine background High-volume surgery experience Spanish language skills Urgent care or ER experience Schedule Typically 3 x 12-hour shifts weekly Consecutive shifts preferred where possible Full-time preferred Compensation and Benefits $160,000-$200,000 salary DOE (FT Hours) Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) with employer match PTO CE allowance Licensing and professional dues covered Relocation support available Potential future profit-sharing or ownership discussions for long-term fit About the Practice Veterinary Urgent Care Houston was built to provide accessible, practical urgent care medicine for pets and families who may not have realistic access to large corporate ER systems.
