Job Description

Required:
HVAC/Refrigeration technician experience 1. Advanced Technical Service & Repair •
Diagnose and Troubleshoot:
Perform advanced diagnostics on complex HVAC/R systems, including commercial rooftop units (RTUs), Walk in coolers/Freezer, Wine cellar cooling units •
Complex Repairs:
Execute intricate repairs on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. This includes compressors, motors, control circuits, refrigerant lines, and gas. •
System Performance Analysis:
Use advanced tools (multimeters, manifold gauges, combustion analyzers, data loggers) to analyze system performance, efficiency, and safety. •
Refrigerant Management:
Handle and recover all types of refrigerants in compliance with EPA Section 608 regulations. Manage complex refrigerant logs and charging procedures. 2. Installation & Project Leadership •
Lead Installations:
Oversee and participate in the installation of new HVAC equipment, ensuring it meets manufacturer specifications, local codes, and company quality standards. •
Project Planning:
Assist in planning project workflows, ordering necessary parts and materials, and coordinating with other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers). •
Quality Control:
Perform final inspections and system commissioning on new installations and major repairs, verifying proper operation and efficiency. 3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance •
Develop PM Schedules:
Assist in developing and optimizing preventive maintenance schedules for a wide variety of equipment. •
Execute Advanced PM:
Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance tasks that go beyond basic filter changes and cleaning, including eddy current testing, vibration analysis, oil analysis, and calibration of sensitive controls. •
Identify Future Issues:
Proactively identify potential failures or inefficiencies during maintenance and recommend corrective actions to prevent costly downtime. 4. Leadership & Mentorship •
Team Leadership:
Act as the lead mechanic on large jobs, directing the work of junior mechanics and apprentices. •
Training & Mentoring:
Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and guidance to less experienced technicians. Share knowledge and best practices to elevate the entire team's skill level. •
Technical Resource:
Serve as the "go-to" expert for other technicians facing difficult diagnostic or repair challenges. 5. Safety, Compliance & Documentation •
Safety Champion:
Enforce and model strict adherence to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. Conduct job site safety briefings. •
Code Compliance:
Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national codes (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Building). •
Accurate Documentation:
Complete detailed and accurate service reports, work orders, timecards, and equipment logs. Document conditions, actions taken, parts used, and recommendations for the customer and internal records. 6. Customer Service & Communication •
Professional Client Interaction:
Communicate effectively with clients, building managers, and tenants to explain complex issues in understandable terms, provide repair options, and recommend solutions. •
Build Trust:
Foster strong customer relationships through professionalism, expertise, and reliable service. •
Manage Expectations:
Provide accurate time and cost estimates for proposed work.
MUST HAVE
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Mandatory Requirement) Valid Driver's License with Clean Driving Record Additional Certifications are highly valued (NATE Certification, OSHA 10/30, HVAC-specific licenses from the State or Municipality).
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
