BIG SPRING, TX!
!! The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment used in pipeline construction and facility operations. This includes pickup trucks, tractor-trailers, heavy construction equipment (excavators, dozers, trenchers, sidebooms), compressors, small engines, and other mechanized equipment. The Mechanic ensures all equipment is maintained in safe, reliable, and operational condition while adhering to company policies, project specifications, and safety regulations. Tools required to perform the duties of a diesel mechanic. A valid driver's license. Reliable transportation. Willingness to work overtime, including Sundays, pending operational needs. Willingness to work on machinery of all ages. Ability to pass a drug screening. PAY DOE Willingness and ability to work in Big Spring, TX! Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical components for heavy equipment, vehicles, and small machinery.
  • Work on heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, trenchers, sidebooms, and compressors.
  • Maintain and repair poly fusion machinery, small engines, pumps, generators, and other pipeline-related equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and schematics.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace parts, filters, belts, hoses, brakes, tires, batteries, and fluids.
  • Oversee and perform fueling, lubricating, and fluid maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Document all maintenance and repair work, including work orders, inspection reports, and parts usage.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, OSHA regulations, and other safety guidelines.
  • Assist in inventory management of parts, lubricants, tools, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with fleet manager and operators to ensure equipment availability and minimize downtime.
  • Perform equipment setup and breakdown at project sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support fleet and equipment maintenance operations. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical repair.
  • Experience working on heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, trenchers, sidebooms), tractor-trailers, compressors, and small engines.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, technical drawings, and maintenance records.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced, outdoor, and shop environments.
  • Valid driver's license required; must be able to pass motor vehicle verification. Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in oil and gas pipeline construction or industrial environments preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Physical Demands (Essential Job Functions)
Lifting/Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance or mechanical aids.
    Standing/Walking:
    Frequent standing and walking in shop and field environments.
      Postural Activities:
      Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing on/off equipment, and reaching.
        Manual Dexterity:
        Requires repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms to operate tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
          Vision:
          Close and depth vision for inspecting components, reading schematics, and operating tools safely.
            Hearing:
            Must be able to hear verbal instructions, alarms, and equipment noises in high-noise environments. Work Environment and Conditions
            • Work is performed in shop environments and outdoor pipeline construction sites.
            • Exposure to hazards including heavy equipment, moving vehicles, noise, dust, grease, chemicals, electrical hazards, and small engine emissions.
            • Use of required PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing.
            • Work schedule may include long hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet project and maintenance needs. Equipment
            • Hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, lifts, jacks, and shop equipment to be supplied by Mechanic to maintenance and repair heavy machinery (excavators, dozers, trenchers, sidebooms, skid steers), tractor trailers, and small engine repair (gasoline and diesel vehicle repair, compressors, fusion machines, etc.).
            • Fueling systems, lubricants, and parts inventory for maintenance operations.
            • All equipment and vehicles must be used and maintained according to company policies and safety standards. Safety Requirements
            • Strict adherence to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety plans.
            • Ensure proper use, inspection, and maintenance of PPE at all times.
            • Participation in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and training programs.
            • Must report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.
            • Must be capable of performing job duties safely without posing a direct threat to self or others.
            • This is a safety-sensitive role and is therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing.
