Job Description

CEI is currently looking for experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic. The Mechanic is accountable for ensuring that company-owned equipment and vehicles are maintained in good working order at all times, consistent with direction provided by his/her direct manager and by the General Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Works under or climbs in or on vehicles or equipment for maintenance and repair inspections. Disassembles, repairs, removes, and replaces parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, clutches of vehicles, equipment or machinery. Tunes, adjusts, regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors and other mechanical components with variable setting. Installs and services hydraulic and mechanical brake systems, power, track, lubrication, air intake and exhaust, fuel, steering, suspension, cooling and electrical systems. Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment or machinery and maintains accurate record of such service. May require some general tire maintenance and removal as well as replacing tires and wheels on trucks and equipment. Perform periodic preventative maintenance including, but not limited to changing all fluids, filters and greasing. Following a standard maintenance schedule developed collaboratively with the Yard Manager. Place approved orders for replacement parts with vendors; ensure that the Yard Manager is informed of all such deliveries and that all associated paperwork is correct. Maintain inventory of parts, filters, etc. Ensure inventories are accurate and re-orders are made timely to keep productive and equipment serviced/repaired timely. May take calls on equipment breakdowns and expedite repairs/parts appropriately. Travel to jobsites regularly to inspect equipment, plan for repairs and ensure equipment is being maintained and cared for properly. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Participates in Pre Task Planning meeting, Stretch and Bend, and Tool Box Safety meetings.
