The Opportunity:
You will serve as the mechanical backbone of our fleet, ensuring the massive earthmoving assets that build New Mexico remain in peak operating condition. This role offers the autonomy to solve complex technical challenges on CAT, Komatsu, and Volvo machinery within a culture that rewards grit and expertise. You will have the chance to master diverse repair workflows while supporting high-stakes industrial and federal infrastructure projects. How You Will Make an
Impact:
Execute precision mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet of diesel-powered heavy equipment and support vehicles. Troubleshoot complex hydraulic, engine, and transmission systems to identify root causes and implement lasting technical solutions. Rebuild and install mechanical components with high attention to detail to ensure maximum machine uptime and field reliability. Perform welding, cutting, and minor fabrication on mobile equipment to reinforce structural integrity and project-specific utility. Manage daily maintenance logs and repair documentation to provide leadership with full transparency on fleet health and costs. Coordinate with field crews to prioritize emergency repairs, minimizing downtime during critical construction phases. Maintain a culture of safety by operating all tools and machinery in strict accordance with OSHA and company protocols.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience specifically maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment. Proven proficiency in troubleshooting diesel engines and mechanical controls for major brands like CAT, Komatsu, and Volvo. Vocational training in diesel mechanics or an equivalent combination of field experience and technical certification. Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate a rugged construction environment including climbing, crawling, and kneeling. Demonstrated mastery of mechanical analysis and the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Advanced knowledge of hydraulic system schematics and specialized electronic diagnostic software. Experience performing field-service repairs in a "mobile" capacity with minimal oversight or shop infrastructure. Strong time-management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple high-priority repair tickets simultaneously.
