Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Payette County Road & Bridge is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our crew. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mechanical systems, particularly in farm machinery and tractor-trailers. Experience with brands like Caterpillar, John Deere, Kenworth, and assembly is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on county owned and operated equipment such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication
• Inspect equipment to identify faults or malfunctions
• Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment components
• Conduct tests to ensure proper functionality after repairs
• Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities
• Crewman duties include, but not limited to sanding, plowing snow, patching, oiling, sweeping, mowing, hauling sand and rock, flagging and signing for work projects This position will require a Class "A" CDL and you must be able to pass any drug and alcohol testing that is required to maintain CDL.

Experience:

• Mechanical knowledge with a focus on heavy equipment
• Experience working with farm machinery, tractor-trailers, Caterpillar equipment, and air brake systems
• Proficiency in equipment assembly
