Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Technician Shift:
1st M-F (7A-6P) and flexible to work Saturdays Job Description The Production Technician cleans, inspects, and services utility and bucket trucks, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready for operation. This role involves performing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on customer and company-owned trucks and heavy equipment, while accurately documenting all work performed and monitoring repair costs. Responsibilities Wash and clean utility trucks and bucket trucks to ensure they are presentable and ready for service. Run diagnostics on customer and company-owned trucks and heavy equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Inspect components carefully to maximize the reuse of parts and help control overall repair costs. Complete all required repair documentation using appropriate software, accurately recording work performed and repair times. Monitor job expenses against repair estimates to ensure work stays within budget. Notify the supervisor in advance of any potential cost overruns before completing the job. Ensure all serviced trucks and equipment are safe and ready to be put back into operation. Essential Skills Hands-on experience working with utility trucks, bucket trucks, or similar commercial vehicles. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems on trucks and heavy equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on trucks and heavy equipment. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance. Ability to clean and prepare trucks and heavy equipment to operational standards. Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to identify and document equipment issues. Strong attention to detail when inspecting components to determine reuse and manage repair costs. Ability to accurately document repairs and repair times using appropriate software. Capability to monitor job expenses and compare them to repair estimates. Effective communication skills to keep supervisors informed of job status and potential cost overruns. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in automotive repair or automotive technician work, especially on diesel or heavy equipment. Experience with upfitting or customizing utility and bucket trucks. Familiarity with working on diesel-powered vehicles and related systems. Comfort working on both customer-owned and company-owned equipment. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple repair tasks and documentation requirements. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a repair shop environment with work performed both indoors and outdoors, depending on the equipment and tasks. You will work around trucks, bucket trucks, and heavy equipment, using diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and computer-based software for documentation. Conditions may vary with the weather when working outside, while the shop provides a structured setting for maintenance and repairs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union City, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
