Heavy Equipment Operator

Position Summary:

A Heavy Equipment Operator supports daily quarry production by operating and maintaining heavy machinery used for extraction, material handling, and on‑site processing. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions, and consistent attention to equipment performance and site safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders, hydraulic hammers, and rock crushing equipment to produce high-quality aggregate materials. Operate lime spreader per application recommendations to ensure correct rates and coverage across various crop fields. Perform routine servicing, repairs and maintenance on equipment. Load materials onto trucks safely and efficiently. Follow all MSHA and OSHA workplace safety standards. Collaborate as a team to ensure smooth, safe, and productive operations. Maintain compliance with safety and production standards. Keep accurate records of operations and equipment maintenance. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operation (required). Strong skills in operating heavy equipment such excavators, wheel loaders, hydraulic hammers, and rock crushing equipment. Quarry or mining experience preferred. Welding experience helpful. High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Valid Class C driver's license required, Class A preferred. Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working well in a team. Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

The work environment described here is representative of what the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job including, but not limited to: frequent exposure to all types of weather conditions; heat, cold, rain, wind, sun etc. frequent exposure to dust, as well as various chemicals, gases, and occasional noxious odors. at times, noise level in the work area can be above 80 decibels while performing certain duties. walking on uneven ground.

Position requires physical strength, coordination, and sufficient ability to do strenuous manual work, including but not limited to: frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; strength and dexterity to work in a typical field setting, including the operation of power or hand tools. varying periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing, or kneeling. specific vision abilities, such as near vision, far vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust as necessary to safely operate a motor vehicle and other necessary equipment. effective hearing and speech to communicate in person, via radio, telephone or other relevant means of communication. ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds or more safely.

Starting at $25-30/hour based on experience and skills.

Expected 40-55 hours per week.
