Heavy Recovery Operator

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Heavy Recovery Operator to join our team and lead the safe, efficient recovery of heavy vehicles and equipment. In this role, you will operate specialized tow trucks and recovery machinery to assist with vehicle accidents, breakdowns, and recoveries. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and heavy-duty driving will ensure that every recovery is handled professionally and safely. Duties Operate heavy-duty tow trucks, flatbeds, and recovery equipment to retrieve and transport damaged or disabled vehicles Conduct automotive diagnostics to assess vehicle condition and determine appropriate recovery procedures Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues during recovery operations and perform minor repairs if needed Load, unload, and secure vehicles safely using appropriate tools such as forklifts or winches Manage customer interactions professionally, providing clear communication and exceptional service during stressful situations Coordinate with team members to plan efficient recovery routes and prioritize urgent calls Maintain detailed logs of recoveries, vehicle conditions, and equipment usage for reporting purposes Requirements Proven experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, or similar heavy recovery equipment Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic automotive repairs and diagnostics Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with clean driving record; experience driving manual transmissions preferred Familiarity with automotive repair processes and troubleshooting techniques Ability to handle conflict management situations calmly and professionally Experience operating forklifts or other lifting equipment is a plus Excellent customer service skills with a focus on clear communication during high-pressure scenarios This role is ideal for motivated individuals who thrive in physically demanding environments and are committed to safety, efficiency, and delivering outstanding service.
