Aug 1, 2026 Job Description The mission of the Segue Institute for Learning is to foster a community where students take ownership of their education. Segue scholars receive a rigorous academic experience that prepares them to excel in the high school and eventual college setting of their choice. At Segue, we believe that all students are "at promise" versus being labeled "at risk." The Segue Institute for Learning is a safe and nurturing environment that promotes diversity encourages individual growth and allows students to view themselves as citizens of change in their homes and community. Expectations include but are not limited to:
Instructional Responsibilities:
  • Implements and designs instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
  • Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and individual needs
  • Collaborates to develop, align, and modify curriculum and assessments
  • Assumes responsibility for meeting student performance goals in his/her course as well as school-wide student learning objectives
  • Ensures that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification
  • Implements PBIS and restorative practices to manage classroom
Professional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates to develop, align, and modify lessons, curriculum, and assessments (e.g. Performance Based Assessments)
  • Maintains effective and efficient record-keeping procedures (parent communication log, behavioral log, student work samples)
  • Collaborates with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment
  • Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community
  • Participates in professional development opportunities
  • Follows all school safety procedures and protocols
Community Involvement Responsibilities:
  • Provides a positive environment in which students and families are encouraged to be actively engaged in all facets of the learning process
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis (e.g. phone calls, post cards, emails, parent teacher conferences, progress reports, etc)
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, teachers, and community
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities to meet the needs of our school
  • Takes an active role in the school environment during and after school hours with individual initiatives or activities (field trips, school concerts, etc)
