Wellesley High School is seeking a teacher with both Family and Consumer Science credentials and early childhood education expertise. This individual will have the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between child development theory and pedagogy as an instructor in both the high school classroom and in the Wellesley High School Child Lab preschool program. This teacher will plan a comprehensive child development curriculum that guides high school students through the milestones, theories and best practices of early childhood development and education to prepare students for practical application in the multi-age Child Lab setting. The person in this role will collaborate closely with the Child Lab Coordinator to cultivate the Child Lab environment where they simultaneously facilitate classroom instruction for high school students and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for preschoolers.Performance Responsibilities:
Meets and instructs grade 9- 12 students in Early Childhood Education and Development during assigned class time and in the locations and designated.
Qualifications:
Must possess or be eligible for a MA DESE license in Family & Consumer Science (Grade 5-12). Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology. Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy.
