Bio-Med Science Academy is an innovative, progressive, year-round public STEM Academy that prepares students to succeed in the global economy. The Academy opened in Rootstown, Ohio in August 2012 and received formal STEM designation in April 2013. As a member of the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN), the Academy is a recognized STEM Academy along with other STEM schools across the state and the country. The Academy strives to attract highly qualified individuals with a passion and drive to rethink education to propel students into the global community with strong roots in 21st-century skills. Position Overview Bio-Med Science Academy teachers are passionate and innovative about their content area and can design and facilitate interdisciplinary learning experiences with a STEM approach. The ideal candidate will create The Integrated Human Sciences Educator delivers engaging, interdisciplinary learning experiences that connect science, anatomy and physiology, health, and physical education through inquiry, movement, and real-world application. This role supports students in developing a deep understanding of the human body, wellness, fitness, and lifelong healthy habits while fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The educator designs authentic, hands-on learning experiences that align with the Academy's mastery-based and student-centered instructional approach. Key Responsibilities
  • Includes but are not limited to: Design and implement interdisciplinary learning experiences that require students to integrate knowledge from two or more disciplines, ensuring alignment with relevant content standards.
Develop and facilitate STEM-based projects through inquiry learning Promote authentic, real-world learning experiences that engage students in problem-solving, research, documentation, and presentation to authentic audiences. Facilitate the design thinking process to encourage creativity, innovation, and iterative problem-solving. Leverage modern technologies to enhance learning experiences, ensuring students have access to age-appropriate, relevant technology tools. Encourage student ownership of learning by supporting goal-setting, decision-making, and progress monitoring. Create a flexible learning environment that provides balanced opportunities for independent and collaborative work, meeting individual student needs. Implement competency-based learning approaches , ensuring students progress at an optimal path and pace toward mastery. Utilize varied and adaptable assessment strategies to provide ongoing feedback and measure student learning effectively. Foster a student-driven culture that supports personalized learning pathways aligned with students' needs, interests, and aspirations.
Qualifications:
Current Ohio teaching licensure or willingness to secure one through an alternative pathway. Ideal areas of study or experience are in Health & Physical Education, Human Sciences, Exercises sciences. Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree Ability to create an inclusive, student-centered classroom that supports diverse learning needs. Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
