Position Title:
Academic Reassignment Teacher
Reports To:
High School Principal
Summary:
Responsible for monitoring students who have been assigned a discipline consequence, and for ensuring they are provided with and are completing assigned work during this time.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise students, in a classroom setting, from Wright City High who have been assigned Academic Reassignment (AR) as a discipline consequence. Create a classroom climate that allows students to work productively on assignments sent by teachers; the climate should be strict but not so rigid as to create unnecessary conflict. Put in place an expectation that students will stay awake, work on assignments, stay off all technological devices that are not being utilized for academic purposes, and create no distractions for other students. Communicate consistently and professionally with teachers about students in AR. The AR teacher will communicate on a routine and regular basis what students have been assigned AR in order to procure work. Assist students, whenever possible, with their assignments and work. Provide redirection for minor disturbances. Put a structured and efficient system in place to ensure completed assignments are returned to teachers in a timely manner. The AR teacher should maintain careful records of work completed and returned. Communicate with building administrators about needs, student issues, and any problems related to obtaining work from teachers for students in AR. Perform all other duties and student supervision as assigned by administration.

1. A valid Missouri teaching certificate 2. Experience working with student of all levels/abilities.
