This role includes planning and implementing effective lessons, maintaining accurate student records, communicating consistently with families, collaborating with faculty and staff, and supporting school programs and activities as part of professional responsibilities. Under the direction of the site administrator, to provide a Christ-centered educational program for pupils; to assist in other school programs and activities as part of the professional responsibilities; to perform other adjunct duties as assigned; to do other related work as required, all to the Glory of God. Principal or Designate C.Assigned Responsibilities:
Provides an instructional program utilizing the adopted HP curriculum for assigned students by teaching assigned subject matter. Implements administrative regulations and procedures as defined in the Parent & Student Handbook. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide planned experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize instructional time through the use of direct, small group, and collaborative instruction (i.e. teaches bell to bell). Utilizes the appropriate instructional techniques, activities, strategies, and supplemental materials that will adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual pupils and be consistent with the goals of Horizon Prep. Consistently uses technology in the classroom as a tool for student learning. Evaluates, maintains accurate records of academic and social growth of students. Communicates clearly with parents and supervisor regarding student progress, classroom procedures, student assignments and expectations, and school programs through the use of weekly newsletters, emails, websites, Renweb, and parent/teacher conferences. Works together with the middle school team to plan and implement academically rigorous lessons during prep times and other allotted team planning time. Collaborate with other faculty members regarding the progress of individual students. Identifies needs of students and collaborates with other relevant faculty members in assessing and resolving health, attitude, and learning issues. Differentiates instruction for specific needs of gifted and higher achieving students and/or intervention students. Administers mandated tests and quarterly assessments in accordance with HP standards. Fulfills assigned Homeroom responsibilities and teaching requirements for Student Life Program. Fulfills assigned responsibilities for student supervision. Participates in curriculum development and other academic committees as assigned by administrator. Participates and is on time to devotions, staff meetings, all school parent nights, The Living Nativity, Harvest Festival, Open House, and all other required school events. Attends at least one church service or Bible Study per week at Horizon Christian Fellowship. Establishes and maintains high standards of student behavior (classroom management) needed to achieve a desirable learning atmosphere which provides physical, spiritual, and psychological security. Performs basic attendance records using RenWeb, textbook and materials counting, and other business services as required. Prepares and submits all required reports such as lesson plans, newsletters, and assessments as required in a timely manner. Keeps current academic and behavioral records using RenWeb and Moodle, records on RenWeb and Moodle in accordance with time requirements, prepares progress reports and report cards, maintains cumulative folders as required. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service educational activities, and seeks out professional growth activities. Provides demonstration lessons and samples of student work during observations by supervisor while cooperating with the evaluator in the development and implementation of suitable activities to improve teacher effectiveness or other deficiencies. Maintains professional appearance at all times. Creates a "Model Classroom" environment for students that is functional, well organized, attractive, and conducive to learning through creative displays, bulletin boards and classroom décor. Maintains that all communications to students, parents, and administrators is of the highest quality (newsletters, tests, assignments). Maintains current information on school website, Renweb, and Moodle as required by Supervisor and enforces the same expectations of assigned students. Fulfills responsibility for homeroom, including teaching study skills or other curriculum during tutorial period. Fulfills assigned responsibilities for Praise and Worship and discipleship groups. Attends as a chaperone the Fall and Spring camps with Middle School students. Models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ and desires to do all things as to the Glory of God. D.Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching instruction. Displays behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques, methods, and conflict resolution procedures.Ability to:
Plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive instructional program Effectively assess the educational needs of students, and design, develop and implement education plans Provide and promote and environment that is conducive to learning Communicate regularly to parents and students in a sensitive manner Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others E.Education and Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:EDUCATION
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.EXPERIENCE
Successful completion of a student teaching experience or approved internship at an accredited college or university. 3 years of successful classroom experience preferred.CREDENTIAL
: A valid single subject teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or other approving authorizing states to service in the assigned area. Requirements /Qualifications Education:
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.Experience:
Successful completion of a student teaching experience or approved internship at an accredited college or university.Credential:
A valid teaching credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or other approving authorizing states to serve in the assigned area with the intention to receive a California credential. Subject area certified. Preference, if applicable, for AP training and certification.
