Students and, when assigned, instructional paraeducators, student teachers, and classroom volunteers Position Summary The teacher serves as a Christ-centered educator and disciple-maker, advancing the mission of Intermountain Christian School by equipping and inspiring students to thrive in God's world. The teacher delivers high-quality instruction, cultivates a classroom culture of joyful learning and biblical faithfulness, partners with parents in the formation of children, and contributes to students' spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth. The teacher models Christian character, integrates a biblical worldview throughout the educational experience, and supports the school's broader life and ministry. Spiritual Qualifications Professes a personal faith in Jesus Christ and demonstrates an active, growing relationship with Him. Affirms and lives consistently with the school's statement of faith, mission, and core commitments. Demonstrates Christian character, spiritual maturity, humility, emotional health, and relational wisdom. Serves as a godly example in speech, conduct, attitude, appearance, and in relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader community. Participates faithfully in a local church and maintains a lifestyle consistent with biblical standards and the expectations of employment at a Christian school. Commits to following the ICS Grievance and Problem-Solving Policy when addressing possible conflicts. Embraces the calling of Christian education as both a professional responsibility and a ministry of discipleship. Educational Qualifications Holds at least a bachelor's degree from an ACSI-recognized college or university in education or an appropriate academic field. Possesses or is eligible to obtain the credentials, licensure, or certifications required by ICS and, where applicable, ACSI or state expectations. Demonstrates competency in subject matter, instructional planning, classroom management, and student assessment. Shows ability to teach effectively at the assigned grade level or in the assigned subject area. Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills. Prior teaching experience preferred, though not required for otherwise highly qualified candidates.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS A.
Equip Students for Learning and Faithful Living Plan and deliver instruction aligned to approved curriculum, grade-level expectations, and clearly defined learning objectives. Teach content accurately, clearly, and enthusiastically using developmentally appropriate and research-informed instructional practices. Integrate biblical truth and a Christian worldview into instruction, discussion, assignments, and classroom culture via Teaching for Transformation principles. Develop lessons that cultivate critical thinking, communication, creativity, problem solving, and wise discernment. Differentiate instruction to address diverse readiness levels, learning needs, interests, and abilities. Provide additional support, intervention, enrichment, or extension as needed to help each student make meaningful progress. Establish and communicate high expectations for student learning, effort, conduct, and stewardship. Use technology, instructional resources, and varied methodologies appropriately to strengthen student engagement and learning. Prepare sufficiently for daily instruction and maintain lesson plans, pacing, and classroom materials in an organized manner. B. Inspire Students Through Christ-Centered Relationships and Culture Build a classroom environment that is safe, orderly, respectful, engaging, and conducive to learning. Cultivate a culture of encouragement, curiosity, responsibility, perseverance, and love for truth. Develop meaningful relationships with students that reflect care, consistency, grace, and accountability. Know students as learners and as individuals, including their strengths, struggles, interests, and areas for growth. Encourage students in their identity in Christ and help them understand their gifts, purpose, and responsibilities before God. Model joy in learning, love for students, and commitment to excellence that inspires students to grow. Address student behavior consistently, fairly, and redemptively, with correction aimed at restoration and growth. Support the school's spiritual life through prayer, Scripture, mentorship, discipleship, participation in chapel, and other assigned activities. Encourage habits of service, gratitude, integrity, and constructive contribution to the school community. C. Help Students Thrive in God's World Assess student learning regularly using formative and summative measures and adjust instruction based on evidence of progress. Provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to students in order to strengthen achievement and growth. Maintain current and accurate records related to attendance, grades, assignments, and student performance. Communicate proactively with parents regarding student progress, concerns, achievements, and needed support. Partner with parents as primary disciple-makers and seek to strengthen the home-school relationship through timely, respectful, and solution-oriented communication. Contribute to a school experience that helps students flourish spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and, where appropriate, physically. Participate in collaborative efforts with colleagues to strengthen curriculum, alignment, intervention, enrichment, and student support systems. Use data, observation, and professional judgment to identify next steps for student growth and classroom improvement. Prepare students not merely to perform academically, but to live faithfully, think biblically, serve others, and engage God's world with wisdom and courage.ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
All Teachers Attend and participate in faculty meetings, in-service days, professional development, school events, parent meetings, chapel gatherings, and committee work as assigned. Fulfill supervisory responsibilities such as carpool, lunch, recess, hall, event, field trip, or other assigned duties. Prepare clear plans, materials, and guidance for substitute teachers when absent. Support school-wide initiatives, improvement efforts, and community-building activities with a positive and cooperative spirit. Collaborate with administrators and colleagues in maintaining continuity, consistency, and excellence across the program. Respond promptly and professionally to communication from parents, students, colleagues, and supervisors. Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters, using discretion and sound judgment. Follow school policies, procedures, calendars, deadlines, safety expectations, and emergency protocols. Maintain an orderly, attractive, and instructionally supportive classroom and learning space. Represent ICS in a favorable, professional, and mission-aligned manner to families and the broader community. Participate in the evaluation process, goal-setting, and ongoing professional growth as expected by the school. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration, consistent with the school's mission. Middle and High School Teachers As assigned, advise and support a grade-level class as their class advisor. Advisors will stay with their assigned class, moving with them as they proceed through each grade. Coordinate and oversee activities, events, and traditions in collaboration with school leadership. Support student leadership development. Serve as a mentor, encourager, and advocate for students within appropriate school expectations. This work is stipend-based. Confidentiality, Accuracy, and Compliance Support Handle sensitive personal and school information with a high level of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.Note:

Help maintain accurate records and administrative procedures that support compliance with school expectations and operational processes. Follow established procedures and provide timely administrative support to ensure orderly, accountable operations. Exercise sound judgment in handling confidential communications and documentation. Physical Requirements Move, sit, speak, listen, and relocate throughout the school day to instruct, supervise, and interact with students. Use hands and arms for classroom instruction, technology use, writing, lifting instructional materials, and routine school tasks. Lift and carry classroom, office, or instructional materials up to a reasonable amount consistent with school operations. Supervise students indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and settings. Maintain regular, reliable attendance and punctuality. Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including student supervision and movement. Ministerial Duties Because ICS is a Christ-centered school, this position includes ministerial responsibilities that are important to the fulfillment of the school's religious mission.These duties include:
Integrate biblical worldview formation into teaching, classroom culture, and relationships with students. Lead students in prayer, Scripture reflection, worship opportunities, devotions, and faith-centered conversations as appropriate to the class and grade level. Disciple students by encouraging spiritual growth, biblical thinking, repentance, forgiveness, service, and Christlike character. Model Christian conduct and a life of faithful obedience before students, families, and colleagues. Participate in chapel, spiritual life activities, service opportunities, and other school ministries as assigned. Support the school's mission to equip and inspire students to thrive in God's world by helping students see all truth, learning, gifts, relationships, and vocation as belonging to God. Partner with parents and school leadership in the spiritual nurture and formation of students.
