May 13, 2026 Milford School District is seeking a visionary and high-impact leader to serve as the Principal of Milford High School (MHS). Serving approximately 1,100 students in grades 9-12, MHS is the flagship secondary institution of the district, situated on a shared campus adjacent to Milford Central Academy (grades 7-8). The High School Principal is responsible for direction of the instructional program, staff supervision and evaluation, staff development, student discipline, public relations, and operation and maintenance of the building in order to maximize the school's contribution to the community. We are looking for a leader who will champion the district's strategic plan, cultivate a culture of rigor, and ensure that every student is prepared to make post-secondary contributions to our community.
Qualifications:
Possess Delaware School Principal certification. Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in school administration, with a strong preference for secondary classroom experience. A proven record of increasing student achievement and a deep understanding of evidence-based pedagogical practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets to drive school improvement and interpret results for various stakeholders. Advanced understanding of State and Federal laws governing public education. Expert-level proficiency in conflict resolution, behavior management, and professional communication.
Performance Responsibilities:
This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or ability associated with this role but is intended to accurately reflect the principal job elements. Leads the development, monitoring, and evaluation of all instructional programs to ensure academic rigor and alignment with state standards. Supervises the school's teaching and learning process, providing regular feedback and coaching to staff to improve classroom delivery. Oversees the master building schedule and student class assignments to maximize instructional time and efficiency. Directs the implementation of the district-approved curriculum to ensure instructional consistency, academic rigor, and alignment with state standards across all departments. Leads the School Leadership Team in making recommendations concerning the school's administration and instruction. Oversees the implementation and operation of special programs including special education services, career and technical education, Advanced Placement, dual enrollment and performing arts. Oversees the integration of comprehensive school counseling and advisement programs to ensure every student achieves post-secondary readiness and meets graduation requirements. Supervises the evaluation of all professional, paraprofessional, and support personnel assigned to the building. Supervises the Athletic Director and athletic programs ensuring compliance with DIAA regulations. Directs the recruitment, screening, hiring, and orientation of high-quality staff members. Provides for the ongoing professional growth of staff through targeted learning communities and individualized development plans. Evaluates staff performance and recommends the retention, non-renewal, or dismissal of personnel based on documented evidence and professional standards. Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure clear communication of policy changes, programs, and school goals. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate characterized by high expectations and mutual respect. Assumes responsibility for student attendance, conduct, and health, maintaining accurate and legal records of student progress. Enforces high standards of student conduct and discipline, ensuring all actions respect the due process rights of all students. Establishes clear guidelines for student behavior and supervises the maintenance of a safe, orderly campus. Attends and supports school-sponsored activities and special events to recognize student achievement and foster school spirit. Manages the school budget and local funds, ensuring strict accountability and transparency in all financial matters. Ensures the safety and security of the facility, including the planning and supervision of emergency response drills in accordance with Homeland Security mandates. Maintains an accurate inventory of school property and provides for the security and maintenance of the physical building. Implements and ensures compliance with all Board of Education policies and District regulations. Prepares and submits all required reports, records, and paperwork to the District and State accurately and on time. Collaborates with District Office on district-wide matters such as transportation, special services, and facility usage. Acts as the primary liaison between the school and the community, fostering partnerships with local groups to support school objectives. Oversees school-level social media and official correspondence to promote student achievement and maintain a positive school image. Facilitates effective communication between parents and teachers, including arranging special conferences as needed. Participates in District-level meetings, negotiations, and committees as directed. Maintains professional growth by staying current with educational research, attending national/state conferences, and participating in professional organizations. Performs other duties as assigned. Special Requirements Requirement to work beyond a 40-hour week, including evening and weekend meetings and events. Ability to respond to school and District emergencies at any time.
Terms of Employment:
Twelve (12) month full-time employee.
Salary:
Established by the Board of Education.
Benefits Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually using the state approved system.
