Job Description

VACANCY Maquoketa High School Secretary 2026-2027 School Year Maquoketa High School is seeking a positive, organized, and student-centered individual to serve as our High School Secretary for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced school environment and values building strong relationships with students, families, staff, administration, and community members. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a welcoming, efficient, and supportive office environment. This individual should possess strong situational awareness, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to a safe, positive, and student-focused school culture. The High School Secretary will work closely with the principal, assistant principal, and activities director to support the daily operations of the high school office and provide exceptional service and support to students, families, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma; post-secondary training desirable Strong communication skills; both verbal and written Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member Ability to create a welcoming and positive environment for students, families, staff, and visitors through strong interpersonal and customer service skills Desire to work with high school students and families Desire to work with the Activities Director and activities programs Familiarity with athletics is advantageous High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality Ability and willingness to learn and help out where necessary Working knowledge of and experience with applications such as Google SuiteInfinite Campus Understanding of purchasing procedures, purchase orders, invoices, and documentation Ability to manage multiple tasks and accurately maintain records General office machine usage and troubleshooting Follow established procedures for handling and safeguarding cash Count and reconcile petty cash funds on a regular basis Willingness to obtain a MedicationInsulin Administration certification Preferences will be given to the candidate who: Possess the best qualifications Presents the strongest interview
Compensation:
222-day contract; 11 paid holidays and 211 workdays Beginning August 1, 2026 (or 1 week earlier) Exact hours to be determined Compensation per 2026-27 Support Staff Settlement Conditions; Range is $17.17 - $19.67.
