ABOUT THIS JOB

This position is in D05 Maintenance Section/U580 and reports directly to the Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent. The incumbent is required to operate: single and double-axle dump trucks, front-end loader, tractor w/ cutter, excavator or backhoe, asphalt roller, asphalt distributor, bobcat w/attachments, computer, and Personal Data Assistance. The incumbent must be knowledgeable in the safe operation of passenger vehicles as well as other operated by Highway Forman 1. The incumbent must possess and maintain licensing in the following areas: Class "A" CDL. The incumbent must be able to communicate both verbally and non-verbally in an effective manner to his supervisor and subordinates. Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of roads, bridges, levees, drainage facilities, wharfs, buildings, or grounds; OR Four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of industrial or heavy mobile equipment.

Job Duties:

Supervises the MEO's performing maintenance to the highways and bridges. Prepares daily labor and equipment report. Orders materials daily. Guides and instructs assigned personnel to see that Highway Standards are met. Conducts routine administration meetings and training. Works emergencies at night. May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Promotional, open to current permanent classified DOTD employees only. May be filled as a Detail to Special Duty or Lateral Appointment.

Work Schedule:

Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday.
