Duties, Responsibilities & Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Highway Permit Inspector will review, inspect and process new street additions and county bond projects and additions; ensure permit work zones are designed and implemented properly and traffic control is maintained according to guidelines; and respond to citizens, elected officials and local government officials regarding permit inquiries/concerns. Position will conduct on-site inspections for subdivision and permit projects; review site plans, special permits, rezoning request and land divisions; complete required paperwork to process permits and subdivision acceptance; and meet with applicants in the field, review project work zones and review/determine bond estimates. Knowledge of highway construction and roadway maintenance. Ability to read and interpet site plans, road construction plans. property plats. utility plans and sketches. Ability to interpet VDOT Road and Bridge standards and specs, VA Work Area Protection manual, Access Management and Land Use Permit Regulations Considerable knowledge of land use premitting process and procedures.

Skills Required:

Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience Highschool/GED Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures. Demonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry. Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently. Registrations Required:
