Job Description

Position:
Histology Technician (Full-Time, Nights)
Schedule:
11 PM - 7:30
AM, No Weekends Job Description:
Prepare and process specimens for gross and microscopic examination by a pathologist. Assist in preparing frozen sections of surgical specimens for microscopic examination. Perform histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing, fixation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine and special stains, and case organization. Ensure accurate sample, block, and slide identification. Prepare and maintain solutions for routine stains and histology procedures. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation as per manufacturer and department procedures. Troubleshoot issues and take appropriate corrective action in a timely manner. Adhere to department policies regarding quality control and assurance. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives and provide input for workflow, systems, processes, and equipment selection. Support departmental goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction. Act as a resource to peers and customers, demonstrating teamwork. Assist in orienting, training, and documenting competency of department personnel. Participate in accreditation inspections.
Requirements:
Certification as a Histology Technician. Previous experience in histology and cytology procedures preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards.
