Job Description

Encanterra® Country Club Encanterra features eighteen holes of golf, two Resort Clubs, multiple dining options, state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities, exceptional tennis and pickleball complexes, indoor and outdoor pools and a full-service Alvea Spa, which recently was named the state's top Clubhouse Spa by Arizona Foothills magazine. Our weddings & events spaces are also among the best in the Queen Creek.

Non-Teaching Rate - $15.15 per hour / Personal Training Rate - 75% commission per session
Benefits:
New hourly full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment. Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off ("PTO") in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year. Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually. Part-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Sick Leave in accordance with state guidelines. All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Tennis Professional is responsible for creating tennis programs, providing individual and group instruction, and promoting sales of tennis equipment. This position reports to the Wellness Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals. Develop safe, professional, and comprehensive tennis lessons and programs to ensure students develop along a pathway that will encourage continued involvement. Offer private, group, and clinic lessons in accordance with BSRG policies. Ensure students understand tennis rules, scoring procedures, safety rules, and tennis etiquette. Identify inactive tennis players and re-engage them in appropriate programs. Maintain a professional, confidential instructor-client relationship and maintain code of ethics. Assess client contraindications that may prevent safe tennis play, or modify instruction and customize training based on client's individual needs and/or physical limitations. Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor. Create and maintain client cards, instruction provided, and client notes, when appropriate. Know tennis shop products and Club services and be able to suggest beneficial products and services.

Promote sales of racquets, strings, and other tennis equipment. Observe league and ladder match play periodically for member interest and to promote lessons. Assist with Club tennis tournaments as needed. Return all phone calls in a timely manner (within 24 hours) and perform other administrative duties as needed. Attend weekly tennis staff meetings. Attend exhibitions, buying shows, tournaments, and educational seminars to stay current with the golf industry, as requested. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Strong team-building skills, including the ability to lead, cooperate, and motivate. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. One to two years' related experience preferred. Skilled in golf and tennis; experience teaching lessons preferred. Previous experience in private country club preferred. Current First Aid, CPR/AED certification, and other safety certifications, as required by the Club. Ability to provide clear instructions and pay attention to a client's physical movements at the same time; willingness to respond to client's questions or concerns. Ability to explain and promote other facility services to guests. Must have strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer services skills and an ability to respond to the needs and requests of coworkers and clients. Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness. Must demonstrate initiative, with an ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions based on sound judgment. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected. This position requires a flexible schedule to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Valid driver's license may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position works outdoors on the tennis courts. There is exposure to outdoor weather conditions with tennis play on hard-surfaced tennis courts. The employee is occasionally exposed to native wildlife. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is very active and requires strength, stamina, and flexibility while playing the game of tennis. The position requires standing and frequent active movement for the duration of a shift; swinging, bending, and twisting with repetitive motions; using hands to fingers, touching and holding, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must have a dependable voice and be able to speak clearly, with volume, to provide instruction. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
