ABOUT THE POSITION
The Lead Assistant Tennis Professional•JR Development is responsible for the design, delivery, and growth of a premier junior tennis program that reflects the club's commitment to excellence, service, and community. This role leads all junior tennis initiatives, including clinics, camps, and player development pathways, while providing exceptional experience for members and their families. This is a hands-on, on-court leadership role that combines coaching expertise, program development, and relationship-building in a high-touch private club environment. This is a part time role and would be between 20•30 hours a week
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, oversee and teach on court all junior tennis programming, including seasonal clinics, after-school programs, and summer camps. Create progressive lesson plans that balance skill development, match play, and fun. Build strong relationships with players and parents, providing feedback and fostering a supportive community. Track player progress and implement pathways for advancement into higher-level training or competition. Evaluate program effectiveness and continuously enhance offers to meet member needs Provide exceptional customer service by addressing member inquiries, scheduling court reservations, and ensuring a smooth tennis experience. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the tennis facilities, including courts, equipment, and amenities. Actively promote tennis programs and events to increase participation and membership retention. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and safety protocols related to tennis instruction and facility management. Support the Director of Tennis and Tennis Operations Manager in administrative tasks, such as scheduling, record-keeping, and inventory management. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among players. All other duties assigned by the Director of Tennis, and Tennis Operations Manager within a reasonable scope of the position and department.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
A track record of successfully leading youth sports programs, ideally in a club or academy setting. Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with kids, parents, and staff. Creativity in designing engaging, age-appropriate drills and activities. Organizational skills to manage schedules, events, and multiple program levels. A passion for mentorship and developing both athletic and life skills in young players. Strong playing ability with knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences. Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Passion for tennis and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to members and guests. Ability and willingness to act as a mandated reporter.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a tennis instructor or coach, preferably in a club or resort setting. USPTA or PTR certification is highly desirable.
GROOMING
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per club standards. Professional business attire or provided uniform must be worn while at work and on premises. OTHER Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
