  • The Player Development Professional is responsible for creating an engaging, progressive learning environment that helps members of all skill levels improve and stay connected to the club.
This role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction, building strong member relationships, and driving participation in private lessons, coaching programs, events, and on-course play. By inspiring confidence and fostering enjoyment of the game, the Player Development Professional plays a key role in activating members, increasing retention, and supporting overall membership growth. About the Olympic Club Founded in 1860, The Olympic Club is the oldest athletic club in the United States. Based in San Francisco, it boasts over 11,000 members and features two distinct campuses, 45 holes of golf, and facilities for 19 amateur sports. The club is organized into two historic locations:
The City Clubhouse :
Located in San Francisco's Union Square district on Post Street. It includes extensive athletic and wellness facilities (including a historic swimming pool), fitness classes, fine and casual dining, and member lodging.
The Lakeside Clubhouse :
Located near the Daly City border right off the Pacific Ocean. Designed in a Spanish Revival style, this campus is best known for its world-renowned golf courses—the Lake, Ocean, and Cliffs courses—and features a tennis center and patio dining overlooking the greens.
Golf & Championships:
The Olympic Club has a legendary reputation in the golfing world, particularly for its difficult, tree-lined Lake Course . It has hosted major USGA events, including multiple U.S. Opens, the U.S. Amateur, and U.S. Women's Open championships. It is also scheduled to host the PGA Championship in 2028 and the Ryder Cup in 2033.
The Performance Center:
The Golf Performance Center has everything you need to improve your game. Our team of PGA and LPGA Professionals utilize the latest in modern coaching technology, as well as our long and short game practice facilities, to provide our members with a complete instructional program, tailored specifically to the individual. We also offer specialized fitness programming in tandem with our fitness team to achieve better overall conditioning both on and off the course. Experience Required Required Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Passion for playing golf and helping others improve. Strong interest in swing mechanics, athletic movement, and golf technology. Engaging, approachable personality with the ability to build confidence and connection in students. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred:
PGA/LPGA
Professional Certification.
Preferred:
Previous experience in golf instruction, coaching, or the golf industry.
Preferred:
Strong understanding of golf fundamentals and player development concepts.
Preferred:
Ability to work effectively with golfers of all ages and skill levels. Ability to work weekends and/or holidays as required. Ability to perform physical duties including lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs. Essential Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide coaching and player development activities, including lessons, clinics, group programs and engagement events.
Play golf regularly with an assigned group of members to encourage participation, improve retention, and build long-term relationships. Enhance player performance through customized instruction and professional club fitting. Assist in the club junior program that includes our after school Operation 36 program, summer camps and PGA Junior League. Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by the club's management. Follow all club department policies, procedures, and instructions. Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff. Follow safe working practices and encourage compliance with safety guidelines. Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications. Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to team success.
