Job Description

Overview Barbuda Ocean Club is a Discovery Land premier private golf community located in the island of Barbuda 42 miles north of Antigua. The Tom Fazio designed championship golf course offers challenging play, picturesque oceany scenery, impeccable greens and broad fairways. The facilities include fitness center, spa, pools, accommodations/hospitality, fishing, kite surfing and more. It truly is a haven for those who want to escape the real world for a piece of paradise! A successful candidate will be an energetic, self motivated, detail oriented individual with a willingness to exceed member expectations on a daily basis. The Assistant Golf Professional will help oversee and direct the day-to-day activities of the golf operation. The AGP will help create a viable and fun world for future generations, operating from unwavering values , learning, growing and adjusting along the way. They will create one-of-kind environments that provides individuals and families the freedom, security and resources to learn and grow. The AGP shall seek opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations and building relationships. The ability to interact with members in a friendly yet professional manner is a must!
Experience Required Education and Experience:
Four-year college degree. PGA Member in good standing preferred. At least 2 years of experience in a high quality, luxury-oriented resort or private club.
Physical Requirements:
Flexible and prepared for potential long hours required during busy periods Must have high level of physical fitness.
Essential Responsibilities Requirements:
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by the owners, the management team, co-workers, members and guests. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions. Implement policies and procedures set forth by the Director of Golf such as ordering all supplies. Enforce rules and regulations governing golf course and facility usage. Oversee all golf services and operations including cart fleet. Track and verify all players and guests, golf cars, club care, and other charges necessary, and facilitate proper controls. Assist in organizing and implementing tournament play. Oversee the operation of a first-class practice facility. Provide lessons and assist in establishing clinics Assist in the management of the instruction program and player development program. Maintain close working relations and communication with the Director of Golf, Golf Course Superintendent and other department heads. Assist in marketing and promotion of new memberships Make the weekly staff schedule Schedule all staff ferry and bus transportation. Play golf with Members and guests Assist in overseeing a profitable merchandising program that is consistent with patron demographics and needs. Assist in overseeing hard good purchasing. Assist in providing informative articles for the newsletter. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Discovery Land standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the Club. Lead by example, consistently conveying a positive attitude, passion and pride in your work. Approach all encounters with members, guests and employees in a gracious, attentive, courteous and service-oriented manner. Always Conduct all business for the club as an ambassador of BOC and Discovery Land with integrity and in a professional manner. Respect all stakeholders' privacy, perspective, priorities, time and resources. Keep fiscal responsibility and member satisfaction in mind when making all decisions. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing proper attire when working. Always comply with Discovery Land standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient club operations. Always maintain a warm and friendly demeanor. Ensure overall member satisfaction. Perform other duties in harmony with the Director of Golf.
