Job Description

Overview Founded in 1916, Baton Rouge Country Club is a traditional, family-oriented private equity club with a membership of more than 1,000. The club is recognized for its strong golf culture and active golf program, which features instructional clinics, private lessons, member tournaments, and a full calendar of competitive events. The golf course was originally designed by Tom Bendelow and underwent a significant renovation by Rees Jones in 2007. The club is currently in the planning stages of an extensive course renovation that will be led by OCM Golf . As a founding member of the Louisiana Golf Association , Baton Rouge Country Club has a rich history of hosting both amateur and professional golf competitions. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for professional growth and career development. Essential Responsibilities The Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional and fellow golf staff to deliver an exceptional member experience consistent with the traditions and standards of Baton Rouge Country Club. This individual will be expected to demonstrate a passion for hospitality, relationship-building, and professional growth while contributing to all aspects of the golf operation.
Key responsibilities include:
Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of all member golf events, tournaments, and club programming. Actively support and participate in the club's robust junior golf program, helping to develop and engage junior players of all skill levels. Manage daily golf operations, including tee sheet administration, member play, weekly men's and ladies' events, starting and marshaling duties, and addressing daily member needs. Deliver exceptional service by building meaningful relationships with members and proactively anticipating their needs. Coordinate and communicate effectively with other club departments to ensure seamless execution of golf activities and member events. Assist the Director of Player Development with instructional programming, including group clinics and player development initiatives. Engage with all demographics of the membership through regular play and interaction, fostering a welcoming and inclusive golf environment. Assist in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of golf operations staff. Maintain a visible presence throughout the golf operation while ensuring high standards of professionalism, hospitality, and attention to detail. Contribute to a positive team culture by collaborating with fellow professionals and staff for the benefit of the membership and overall club experience. Serve as a resource for members and guests by providing knowledgeable information regarding golf programs, events, and club services. Support the ongoing growth and success of the golf operation through initiative, problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Benefits Total package:
$60,000 +
Base Salary:
$36,000 - $42,000 annually 85% Lesson Income Junior Golf Income Christmas bonus (based on tenure) 5-day work week: 45-49 hours a week (more during major events) Accrued vacation 2 weeks paid after the first full year Clothing Allowance PGA Dues paid Health/Dental/Vision insurance after 90 days Continuing Education Allowance Meals Playing and practice privileges 401K after one year
