Camp Pikati (pike-a-tee) means "camp across the Pike!" Each week campers have fun filling their days with traditional camp games, sports, arts and crafts, swimming, relay races, archery, and camp wide special themes!
POSITION SUMMARY
The Archery Specialist develops and implements an archery program that teaches shooting skills for all campers, ages 5 - 12. The specialist provides a safe and nurturing environment for campers and staff and is actively and positively involved in all camp activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Take responsibility for the safety of the activities and participants; including cleaning and sanitation of all archery equipment. 2. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans. 3. Share lesson plans with Camp Director. 4. Let the Camp Director know when more supplies are needed and put together the order form. 5. Help campers improve their archery ability. 6. Make sure all activities are carried out in a constructive and safe way. 7. Handle disciplinary issues in a fair but consistent manner and follow camp disciplinary policy. 8. Inform Camp Director of any camper or staff issues or concerns. 9. Follow established health and safety standards of the YMCA, ACA, and Dept. of Public Health. 10. Actively participate in staff training, meetings, etc. 11. Participate in all programs, special events, family nights, family and other events as assigned. 12. Helps with all camp activities and participates as a member of the camp staff team. 13. Demonstrate/teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all campers and staff. 14. Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them among peers. 15. Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the public always. 16. Able to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities visually and audibly. 17. Capable of responding appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR. 18. Submit all required paperwork on time. 19. Perform other duties as assigned. 20. Attend all Camp Counselor trainings and orientation 21. Actively supports the organization's DEIB commitments by modeling equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging in daily work. Recommend and helps implement strategies and initiatives that advance the organization's diversity goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
USA Archery Level 1 Certification or higher or able to obtain prior to camping season. Prior camp staff experience for at least one year At least 18 years old Ability and experience in supervising children Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable Desire and ability to work in a camp setting. Ability to understand and follow directions. Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications Committing to support and further our equity-centered work as an organization. Actively supports all DEIB efforts. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth. Attend required abuse risk management training. Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Physical Demands:
Hear noises and work in fast paced environment that requires patience, focus and diligence. Meet strength and lifting requirements of 25lbs. See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
